She Wants to be Loved

And she wants to be loved. But she doesn’t know what love is. No one has ever loved her before. They call her a freak, fat, ugly and not worth it. But a voice inside says, you are worth it and one day someone will teach you what love is.

But until then, she goes home and cuts herself everyday. No one sees the pain she’s hiding behind the fake smiles and the I’m fines. Her parents think it’s just a phase, but it’s not. There’s so much more to it than that.

A few months after, she has a boyfriend and is starting to feel happy for the first time. He’s teaching her what love is and how to accept it. She shows him her scars. In her mind she’s hoping that he’ll still love her. What he does next surprises her. He bends down and kisses her scars, he tells her that she’s beautiful and that he’ll never let anyone hurt her like that again.

The next time we see her, she’s being pushed down in the hallway of her high school. THAT’S the moment she starts to fall apart again. Her boyfriend asks if she’s okay and she goes back to the fake smile and says she’s fine. When she gets home from school no one’s there. She goes to her bedroom and starts to cut again. That’s when her mother walks in and sees that she’s dying and has lost a lot of blood.

Her mom calls 9-1-1 and tells them what has happened. They tell her to put pressure on the wound till they get there. When they get there, they put the girl into the ambulance and rush her to the hospital.

When the doctor walks out to the waiting room her family and boyfriend run to him. The doctor says that they’ve stopped the bleeding and she’s expected to make a full recovery.

After everything the girl has done, her boyfriend and family still love and accept her. And knowing, just knowing that gives her strength to keep going. To stay, ALIVE.
